windows 7 recovery does not complete

I am running window 7 home edition. I am unable to access the recovery mode. it starts, reboots, but does not complete the operation. an error occurs 0X80070057. Ran chkdsk repair all can back fine, rebooted several times and retried the recovery with the same results. I even tried to recovery in safe mode with same results.

Does any one have any suggestions on how to get the recovery to work? the computer is a dell studio. No repair disk or image was made when the computer was new.

All help greatly appreciated.

I think I got it.

I rebooted in safe, computer repair, recover.
Warning came up did not complete. rebooted as normal opened administrator account and banner said that recovery had completed.
Strange but if it works its fine.
