Windows 7 FTP Server Program for Manual Install Software

Looking for FTP server program for Windows 7 that can be used to do a Manual Install of the 3300/MCD software

I use filezilla server as the FTP server. Very easy to setup and free.

A lot of people use GuildFTP which is what Mitel recommends but I don't find it as friendly.

I also use Filezilla FTP client for software installs. I keep 4.0, 5.0 & 6.0 in different folders so I can work on all versions in the lab. I also use Filezilla server for MCD backups. 2 great free programs.

How do you use Filezilla client for MCD manual install?

I'm wondering that myself. I use FileZilla server myself. Run the server, run the MCD software installation .exe and install the SW files to a unique folder. Then in FileZilla I create an FTP user for each software release ("mcd4", "mcd6", "mcd6ur2", for example), and assign the home folder for each user account to the appropriate folder containing that release's software installation files.

Use Filezilla or Windows 7 itself.

I think Microsoft removed a native FTP server from Windows beginning with Windows 7. I've been using Filezilla and it's great.

Windows 7 has a native FTP server service, but it's disabled by default and completely different than those of us used to setting it up on XP. Personally I find FileZilla way easier to set up and manage.

Trying to use Filezilla Server. Laptop IP 192.168.1.9. When I try to connect to Filezilla Server using IP 192.168.1.9 I get "Error: connection to server lost". I can connect using localhost or 127.0.0.1. Laptop firewall is disabled. What could be causing this problem.

[li]I setup 1 user, ftp with guest login[/li]
[li]Then I setup the shared folders for each SW load.[/li]
[li]When I need to use a specific load, I set that folder as the home directory and away I go.[/li]

[li]Once you've set up a user, select the shared folders option and select a folder for the FTP directory.[/li]
[li]Allow the appropriate permissions and set as the home directory[/li]

Same end result as your method, just a different way of getting there. Setting up a separate user account for each version just means less messing around with home folder settings at zero dark thirty in the AM when I'm trying to get the job done.
