Windows 2k Server Internet DNS problems

we have Two DNS ip address provided by my ISP providers.I have setup the windows server with this ip address. It works fine for a day or two. after that i have problems browsing. i need to go and change the ntwt->localares->tcpip->properties and change the primary dns with alternate dns then it work for few days. again after few daysi have the same problem. but i have other server win2k server working fine with the same DNS provided by he ISP. i am not able to figure out why this happens with this system.

Please help

HI.

A Win2K server should normaly use its own DNS SERVER 127.0.0.1, and in Administrative Tools - DNS, you set the ISP servers as "Forwarders".

I am not able to add forwarder because when i click on forwarder. i get a msg "forwarder are not availabe because this is a root server.

You need to delete "." record from your AD DNS, you will than be able to add forwarders. Make sure your DC points to it's own internal DNS ip address in TCP Properties.
It took me two days of brian storming after W2K upgrade to fix all DNS errors but finally everything is peachy and way quicker now.

in your forward zones have you deleted the '.' entry if not then the computer thinks it is the root server Thanks

I have deleted . entry in the DNS i found the forward zone. i have added DNS entry into that.
let me wait and see.
Sad part is i cannot test it.
i will only after a day or two if it work fine for a week then i am sure this is the solution. if not i will come back for you help.
