I'm trying to install windows 2000 on an iwill kk266-r with 2 20 gig ibm 60gxp's in a striped raid array. i've got the third party drivers, but every time i try to use them the system hangs. does anyone know what it takes to do a clean install of win2k on a striped raid array?

Thanks

If the controller is doing the raid at whatever level, then the OS does not know anything about the raid and just see whatever drives the raid has made.

What you need to confirm is that the hardware that you are trying to use is on Microsofts Hardware list for this o.s. check hcl at their web site. Mark

Not a direct answer to your question. Firstly you must have pressed f6 when installing, and put the drivers on from a floppy disk with them on??. Thats what I did for my promise (not raid). You shouldn't need to install any extra drivers once windows is loaded unless they are later versions.

Anyway I think you have Amd chipset you may want to post this question at amdmb.com, where it is more than likely that someone has had the same problem.

Cheers

I have had great success installing Win2000 on my Abit KT7A RAID MB and AMD 1.2GHz. The RAID chipset is a HighPoint HPT370 which allows for RAID levels 0,1 and 0+1 as well as JBOD's. The first thing you must do is create the stripe set. I striped two 10GB Quantum Fireball AS drives in the RAID config menu after boot-up (no OS). After restarting my system I just began installing the OS as normal. The "system" actually see's only the comb'n of the two drives, therefore as far as the system is concerned, I am using a 20GB HD, not 2X10.
