Hi,

I have a networking problem with a Windows 2003 SP1 server in a workgroup, if you expand Microsoft Windows Network and then the workgroup name there are no items shown not even the local machine? also I can not remote desktop or map a drive to the server. I can ping the IP number proving there is a connection and there are no errors in the event log?

Thanks for you help

Joolz

First I would recommend upgrading to SP2 since that was just released. But that has nothing to do with your problem.

You need to turn on Enable NetBUI of TCP/IP in the NIC TCP/IP settigns on the WINS tab.

I hope you find this post helpful.

Regards,

Mark

Check out my scripting solutions at

markdmac - I think you mean NetBIOS - NetBUEI is an old non-routable networking protocol.
