Do you need a license for a server that is used for testing? We are thinking about setting up a server to test out some software. It would not connect to anything else or ever be used in production.

If you have an MSDN subscription, you are granted licenses to most of microsoft's software for development and testing purposes (non-production).

If you can complete your testing within 90 days, try and obtain a demo copy of the software (which runs for... 90 days).

Start, Help. You'll be surprised what's there. A+/MCP/MCSE/MCDBA
