Hi Guys,

We have a windows 2003 server running exchnage 2003, when we shut it down, we stop the exchnage services first to speed up the shutdown, but then the server just gets to a certain point and then appears to hang, with a light blue background. (the classic blue wallpaper background)

I cant see anything in the event logs, and all we can do it switch it off and back on again.

any ideas..

Dan

Do you have it set to clear the pagefile on each reboot? If so, this can take several minutes. Have you ever just let it go to see if it reboots on its own?

Check this registry key:

"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management"

If ClearPageFileAtShutdown is set to 1, then it is clearing the pagefile on each shutdown. If its zero, then its not.
