Windows 2003 Server - ASP.NET 1

Good Afternoon,
I am trying to install Exchange 2003 onto a Windows 2003 Server R2. The Server has the Application Server role setup. In order to achieve this, I have followed Microsoft instructions to install ASP.NET.
I go to Control Panel: Add or Remove Programs: Add/Remove Windows Components: Application Server and select Details. Apparently, ASP.NET should be available within here but it is not. The services present are:
Application Server Console
Enable network COM+ access
Enable network DTC access
Internet Information Services
Message Queuing

But the ASP.NET check box is not present.
Any ideas on how I could get this to appear would be much appreciated.

Thanks for this biglebowski,
but the Microsoft instructions do not detail from where you can make the ASP.NET checkbox option appear.
The Microsoft.NET framework is already installed and available. But there is no ASP.NET option within Application Server, as the instructions detail.
I am therefore seeking how I make the ASP.NET option check box appear within Application Server.

Do you mean to enable ASP.NET?
If so

Click Start, point to Administrative Tools, and then click Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager.

In the console tree, expand the local computer, and then click Web Service Extensions.


In the details pane, click ASP.NET, and then click Allow.

But there is no ASP.NET service within Web Service Extensions.
This is the problem, ASP.NET is not available to install within Server Roles, Application server (IIS), nor it is available to add the component through Control Panel, Add/Remove Windows Components, Application Server (details).
ASP.NET is not available to add and I can not see how it can be added. The Windows version is Windows 2003 Server R2, which is the 64-bit version.

Its not a subcomponent of Internet Information services is it?
On all my 2003 boxes it isn't, it is under application server as you say but mine are 32 bit.

I think the 32-bit and 64-bit versions differ in their use of ASP.NET - I looked under IIS but it is not there.

Thanks biglebowski, I didn't realise Exchange 2003 would not run on Server 2003 64-bit editions.
I didn't see this in any of the Microsoft documentation I had previously read. So, thanks very much as I would have no doubt spent considerable time trying to resolve why Exchange wouldn't operate correctly. Exchange is currently running on the Server 2003 64-bit but only as a mirror of the existing 2000 Exchange Server, and its operation is strange.
