I have a problem that started today. We are running a W2K3 Server with 10 clients. Until yesterday all clients were able to open Excel files on the network share. The share contains different types of files all of which open and close without any problem - it is just all .xls files that will not open. The file permissions are the same for all files. It is all client PC's and users that cannot open them. Has anyone any ideas?

office files create a temp copy in the same location.
make sure

1. enough space/quota to create new files
2. folder permission allow user to create file

or try to copy the file from server to local PC, see if you can open it

The error message is simply "Unable to open ......" from within Excel. There is loads of space/quotas and users have create right in the directory.
