Windows 2000 Server TCP/IP Configuation Problems

I have some trouble with TCP/IP. When I go to the setup of TCP/IP to specify ip addresses, DNS servers... etc, I get the message, "Install and enable a network adapter to configure tcp/ip". I found how to fix this on a Microsoft support site by removing all adapters and installing again, but now when I try to edit my TCP/IP settings all of my changes are never applied and just left as standard using DHCP for IP Addresses when I go back to check the changes I have made. The O/S is Windows 2000 Server.

Any ideas guys?

If your setting up Static IP then just Specify your IP, Subnet, Gateway & DNS then save your setting and I recommend rebooting your server. If you use DHCP it will assign all the above for you. But first make sure your NIC is setup corrctly and check for conflicts. Well hope this helps out. Later

Also, one thing I've noticed. Delete out any listing in the DHCP for that server. If you have dual NIC cards, make sure you are trying to apply the TCP/IP to the correct adapter. The best route is to setup the DHCP scope with a few 'out' of the scopes range. This will allow you to set the ones out of the range as static.

Just a thought :)

Thanks for your suggestions guys, but I have found if I apply the settings, they are actually applied, but when
I go back to TCP/IP settings again, they appear as the standard DHCP settings, but actually work to the settings
I specify. It's a complex and confusing situation. All I want is to see my settings in place :)
