I have just installed Win 2000 server . Prob is if I have a soundcard on the system hangs the moment I select from Dual boot to load win 2000 . I have tried so far
SBLIVE , Terratec Integra 128 TT801 and my on-board Audio codec chipset...nothing..

I am using AMD duron 750 , Qdi kinetiz 7B , 256 Ram ..

Try going to the Creative labs site and upgrading your SB Live drivers. Also try installing win2K Service pack. I have almost the exact same config, and Win 2K works just fine.

Good Luck,

SteelDragon

Well....even though both my VIA and my SBLIVE drivers are updated I can only assume that it is a Hardware problem , since I cant even get the OS a little bit started . I cant even look a $%@ boot log file ... I also tried a non-pnp ISA soundcard Soundblaster AWE 32 Value ...same old same old . I couldn't believe it ....

Chronis,
Don't give up yet, Take a look over on the MS site for Win 2000 installation issues, and patches. They may have what you are looking for.... I know there are several HW related installation issues for win 2K. Try that and lemme know if you need further assistance

Well , nothing about my problem on the MS site . I still cant figure out . It doesnt give any clue . The only thing that helps me a bit is the fact that when I tried to install them with my soundcard on board , the setup failed at the very beginning where it says "Setup is now cheching your hardware configuration " or sth like that , I dont recall it very well . I though then "That's Ok! I'll just put the snd on AFTER the installation!" . Well nope ...

So ...its almost certain that it hangs while it tries to check the config of my hardware ....But why ..why....why ?

Steeldragon , thanx for the support though :)

P.S : I was surprised to see that QDI responded to my mail in less than 24 hours about my problem ! :)

It happens to me too. PIII, 500Mhz, 128Mb and SBLive! Value. Downloaded the WIN2K SB driver but nothing worked. That's why I'm running it without the sound card.
