Does anyone know what the implications of introducing/installing a brand new windows 2000 server into an NT Domain.

I know that you can have mixed environment but the deal is really this.

Currently I have one NT PDC and one NT BDC. What I want to do is demote the NT PDC to a BDC so the network temporarily will be running off the BDCs. Then install and configure the Windows 2000 server for the new network as a PDC and have the two NT BDCs replicate accounts to this new windows 2000 PDC.

Is that the best way to introduce a new windows 2000 PDC in an NT domain?

First install Win2k as a BDC then demote the NT box to BDC and promote Win2k as PDC. -Does that help ya?

cheers yep.

So there is no problem with having 3 bdcs and no pdc in that short space of time when I installed the 2000 bdc and demoted the NT PDC to a bdc?
