Hi there,
I have a serious problem with one server Proliant 360 running Windows 2000 Server. The only task it does: running an Antivirus-program (F-Prot) and Websweeper. It stops responding once per day and the only way to restart it is a hardware-reset. The Eventviewer says nothing to this issue, the Windows-version and F-Prot are running on similar servers without any problem.

Any idea?

completly up to date. but I need a new pair of glasses: the eventviewer tells me about 2 device failures: an ide-raid controller and a 2nd ethernet card, both not in use. I enabled the raid-controller now to see if that helps - foolish enough with only 1 hd. Hope there is no hardware damaged due to the several hard resets.

In fact this is first happening serveral weeks ago. A normal restart in the morning did the thing normally. But this week I had to reset the server several times even a few hours after the normal startup...

SKY14657,
Disactivate the antivirus services associated with the Antivirus application. See if the problem stops.Often the RAM is used up quickly by antivirus programs and the hard reset is the answer.
The thing is it can be a modification somewhere else that creates this condition.
I think you should check the server change history until you come up with the turning point.
How long has the server benn running this software correctly?
