When computer finishes booting up, after the user logs in three error messages appear on the screen in the order listed below. It looks like there is an error on the registry. Maybe some one can help me to solve this problem. I would appreciate if someone has an answer to thay

Thank you,

"Cannot import mHotkey.reg:Not all data was successfully written to the registry. Some keys are open by the system or other processes."

"Registry data not found!"

"Access is denied.

does it matter which user? what level of access has user(s) - admin, power, user?

any changes to machine just before this started happening?

Have you looked in event log for clues (run eventvwr.msc)?

Is this standalone or networked machine. If networked, workgroup or domain?

I disjoined it from a domain before it started acting up. Is now a standalone laptop. There are two power users for this laptop. I had to put a name under workgroup in order to disjoin it from the domain. What type of clues should I look under "eventvwr.msc"?

Thanks again,

Just re-reading your original post - looks like its trying to load a registry settings file. From what you say, I wonder if that's a leftover from the domain.

Download and run autoruns:-

and check out startup entries - if there's one for mhotkey.reg, just disable/delete it.

Also, if no good, try running gpedit.msc and look under startup scripts & logon scripts to see if there's anything there running this registry import.

event log is just that - run eventvwr.msc and look under the system and application entries (look for warning and error entries, just read them. Some are more understandable than others! You may not need this if you find the registry import location).

I got almost everything fixed with the autorun.mspx download, except the last error messge:

"Access is denied". Any other ideas?

I have already tried the website download for Regmon, but no luck. As soon as the latptop finishes booting up for the users the "Access is denied" error message appears on the screen. There is no error login in as administrator.
