Sometimes when I am working on my computer and open another window or have mulitiple windows open everything freezes up. Even the task manager! This does not happen everytime, but it does happen frequently. Has anyone had this problem? How do I fix this?

I've had this problem myself. In my case even a new installation of W2k did not help. Then I got a new mainboard from my reseller and it helped.
Check eventlog after your computer freezes. If there is nothing logged it is very likely a hardware problem.

Hi.
I recommend you to have a fully updated system.

That's all for now

Update your Bios.

Replace your RAM if that does not work. Or if you have several sticks use one then the other to see if one has gone bad.

How much memory do you have? How big is your paging file? How often do you restart the system?

Opening multiple application windows uses lots of resources that Windows has to manage. And page swapping isn't one of the best things it does. There are times when I would get page faults and other times, like you, the system would just freeze and need to be restarted.
