On booting up my Windows 2000 PC a Windows 2000 splash screen appears with a series of blue squares acting as a progress indicator. When this series of squares reaches approx 60% there is a definite pause which lasts for around 45 seconds. Is this normal or is there a way of speeding up the loading process ?

Is the computer on a network? I have found that to be a normal boot-up time on some networks because Win2000 is locating and mapping all the network drives it had before the shutdown.

Berton,

Printer is stand alone . No obvious drive mappings as Novell Client is no longer installed . Thanks Anyway !

Do you have any or a lot of peripherals? Printers, special mouse drivers, scanners, etc etc
