Hi All:

not sure if you experienced this problem with Win2k pro, we have a few machines that came with XP, we reinstalled Win2k pro on it so people doesn't get confused with XP's fancy icons.

now we have a problem, any software (Acrobat, ACT!, even office) would not run because it sets certain kind of permission on the program folders so only Admin can access it, people can't use Excel (97-SR2), can't use speller in Word, can't run Outlook, util the folder permission is reset, we going to be deploying hundreds of this kind of machines soon, is there a way to troubleshoot this so we don't have to baby site each machine to make sure everythiing can run on it ?

thank you

JK

There is a way to change settings so programs can be executed by all users, not just those with administrative powers.

There was no need to blow away XP. You could have changed its settings back to so-called "classic" appearance.

If you install all the applications under the Administrator profile then the applications should work for all users. I have deployed hundreds of 2000 pro workstations with no problems installing everything under the local administrator profile. Hope this helps.
