Windows 2000 Pro. On boot up I get Disk I/O Error: Status 00001000. It's not IDE Controller on the Motherboard. I tried a different HD without a problem.. What does it mean?. Is it my HD? is it corrupt? if so How do I go about recovering Data from It. I tried Booting from the boot disk, I tried safe Mode, Command Propmt in safe mode,Different Cables, but still the same result, the Blue screen of Death. No new Hardware or Software was installed. HELP!!!!!!!!

Will it detect as slave to the spare hard drive you have?
if so then install windows on your spare HD, piggy back the old drive, that way at least you can transfer over your important files (jumper spare as master and corrupt drive as slave)
See if the drive can be recovered using the manufactures utility software if not then a low level format maybe in order. Martin
