Hello friends,

I'm having serious problems installing my new GeForce 4 MX440 on my windows 2000 backup PC.

System:
Celeron 500MHz
128 MB RAM
Win2K Pro

The problem is this: whenever I install the correct drivers for the graphics card and reboot, the screen turns off, and nothing happens further. I tried installing the latest nVidia drivers, as well as those that came with the card on a cd-rom. Is my system too old for this graphics card or what am I doing wrong here?

Thanks for your time!!

I have had the same problem with Geforce cards and windows 2000 and the problem turned out the be a faulty network card. Tested the card in three diffrent machines and same problem.

After I replaced the card with a new one (same model etc) no problems and it worked/works fine.

Tried it and it didn't work.

I went back to the store and they gave me another card, but I still get the same problem.

When win2k starts, it shows the splash-screen, and then it gets all jiggy and scattered, after which my monitor just powers down.

I removed every card I could take out, but no effect. But thanks anyway, could have been a possible answer ;-)

Strange this is I don't get this error only in Windows 2000 but in all versions of windows...

Have you check the C-mos setting ?
YOu might want to make sure that your AGP settings are either set to x2 or x4 if the motherboard is able to support it.

I would also check out the Motherboard Manufactur's web site and get the lastest BOIS and see if there are any know problems..
