Windows 2000 Password

I changed my windows 2000 password to log on to my computer and I am set up as the administrator and I can not rember what the password is. So is there a way I can reset the password or bypass it so I can change to something I rember.

Did you give yourself Administrator rights or do you sign into the computer as the Administrator account?

If the Administrator account is seperate from your sign on then it is very simple to change your password. Do the following:

Go to Start>Programs>Administrative Tools>Computer Management

Select Local Users & Groups

Select Users

Under Users, find your sign on. Right-click on it and select Password.

This should change your password.

There is a unix utility that will you to change the 2000 admin password. It runs off diskett and it is a bootable file. This is a last ditch effort but I have used it several times and haven't had any problems yet. The URL is listed below.
