We are having issues when a users Windows domain password is expiring while they are logged on to their account. So email mail work one minute but stop working after their password is expired.

I was wondering if there was a way to alert a user while they are logged in that their password has expired and they need to log off to reset it

thanks

Yes you can warn them, in security policies you can set the warning and at what interval it will begin. We use 7 days. But they will still have to Log out and back in if they are at a site with a slow connection. If they are at the same site with the Email server then it should not matter.

I see the option to "prompt user to change password before expiration". But will this work if a person is logged on and his password expires? Will a popup come up saying YOUR PASSWORD HAS EXPIRED?

No it will not do that, it will prompt them to change their password everytime they login until it expires.

Get to your domain policy>computer configuration>windows settings>security settings>Local policies>Security options..prompt user to change password b4 expiration (fix your time here)

Password expiration messages only appear when a user logs on, so set the setting AND get your users to log out on a regular basis.
