I have a Netware 5.1/6 environment in which I just installed a Windows 2000 server in. The Windows server is not part of a domain/it is not running AD. I have installed e-directory for Windows 2000 on the stand-alone server. The problem that I am having is my Novell clients are unable to access the Windows 2000 server with edirectory. I am under the impression that I will be able to access the Windows server from my Novell clients. Am I wrong to assume this? Any suggestions/ideas would be great.

Thanks in advance.

Yea, putting eDirectory on a Win2K box does not gain you file access to the system. I pretty much just lets NDS aware applications like GroupWise and ZENworks to run on the Win2K server. This is because the file system rights are stored in the file system, not in the SAMs database or the NDS database with eDirectory is installed.

To get file system access you would need to use the Account Managment product or DirXML to sync user ID's and passwords with the Windows CIFS. Assign rights to Windows groups, then add users to those groups to get them the file system rights needed.

That does answer my question. Thanks for the response. I guess I was looking for something similar to Gateway services for Netware that Microsoft offers.

Thanks for the help!
