For those of us around forever... I have used the Epson mode on my office Oki 320's for years. 95,98,XP and now Win10. Went from FX 286e driver to the FX-80 on Win10 32 bit. Draft mode setting as 'Old O/S' works great. One pass and quick. (Just like Dos)
I went and messed up my system by adding a 64 bit Win10 pc to the office. It wont get the list of updated drivers from windows update (many have this problem)
So, does anyone have a favorite 64bit system printer driver that works like the old ones? The Oki driver wont do Draft. (causing the printer to make 2 passes instead of one) Or which CAB file to download that contains the FX-80?
Cheers

Have you tried using the front-panel switches to switch from NLQ mode to draft mode? It's possible that that will take precedence over the mode set by the driver (although I've no way of testing that).

Wouldn't "Generic/Text" cover any such printer to print draft and even use ESC sequences of the printer? If you have reference to that you may use that to find out enough about ESC sequences necessary to put the printer into fast draft printing mode.

Front panel is on Utility/12 pitch. Settings are for Epson printer mode. When it prints the panel doesn't change, the printer simply prints everything in 2 passes. Versus the old drivers that could be told to print 'Draft' and only make one pass, thus printing faster.
We print on 5 printers daily. If no resolve I will simply put this PC in Sales Manager's office. (Ha, He doesn't print invoice, routes, labels or Service)
Generic/Text driver Doesn't do the trick. I need to match all the other PC's which run flawlessly. Win7 uses FX series 1 (80) driver. The Win10 32bit use FX 80 as well. Maybe I'll get lucky and Microsoft will fix the update problem and allow the pc to get updated list of drivers and maybe have the FX 80 in the list. I have no intention of making different report forms for different operating systems.

Rather than waiting for Microsoft to fix the "update problem" (which they probably don't perceive to be a problem at all), you would do better to try to download an up-to-date driver directly form OkiData. I've just had a quick glance at their site, and they have a large number of drivers listed along with OS compatibility details.

Happy Day!! After 6 days of trying... today the Windows Update from Printer properties window worked!
I now have the FX 80 64 bit driver installed.
Thrilling.
Thanks for the help
