I administrate a small office network - 15 boxes 2 servers Various printers. This morning all of the newer HP printers were wacked. Everything would print landscape but half size. When I would try to open the print preferences, I get a protection fault message. This has happend to two different model HP printers. We also have a Dell and a Brother that we not affected. One of the HPs is run off of a desktop and is shared. When we removed the windows updates that we install on that desktop last night it fixed the problem, but only for that desktop. Other desktops trying to use that share are still messed even after removing the updates and reinstalling the printer. One of the updates addressed COM vulnerabilies in internet explorer and I suspect it might have caused this. Has anyone else experienced this problem?

Didn't notice the Microsoft part of your post. I've tried calling their update support line, but get a message "your call did not go through, try again" which makes me suspect the line is overloaded.

I wonder if the same people that may be calling Microsoft, and not getting through, are also jamming up the lines to HP. They might have a few thoughts on the matter too.

If it is a blunder with Updates and HP Printers, it might take a couple of days for it to hit the forums. Any hits on Google?

For what it is worth, my old HP, Shared Printer, is chugging along normally despite Microsoft's updates from yesterday.
