I am trying to monitor write performance to my tape drives. I noticed that there are NetBackup Disk/Tape counters in Perfmon, but there are no instances to select from.

Can anyone offer some help on how to get this working?
FYI - I am running NB4.5 MP6 on Windows2003.

Thanks

Not sure why you do not get any instances as the instances are defined by the devices configured in NetBackup. As long as you have a tape device on the server AND it is configured ont he master server, the instance should show up.

I have two Windows2003 Media Servers. They are attached to 18 LTO2 fiber drives. The tape library is in an SSO configuration with 2 other AIX servers.

I am using QLogic HBAs, which are dual ported. There are 3 drives that are zoned to each port.

All of the drives are functioning properly, so I am not sure of why I can't see any counters.

I finally got this to work. There are two things that you need to do in order to view the stats in perfmon.

First, you have to start a backup that uses that media server.

Second, you have to log into the console and start perfmon. Add a counter and select the "NetBackup Disk/Tape" Object. From there you will be able to choose Read or Write bytes. Finally, the tape drives that are being used will show up in the instances box.

I was trying to view this previously through a Terminal Services connection to the server. Apparently there is a bug that will not allow you to see the instances through a TS connection, you must be at the console.
