I have been having difficulty with Windows 98 shutting down, after I tried to install a pre-release version of MS Office 2000 Premiere Edition that had already expired. After I was not successful in instaling the software by setting my system clock back to 1999, I have had nothing but problems on shut down. First, I got the blue screen"fatal exception" error. Now it hangs with the black screen, with only the mouse pointer showing. I even reformatted my hard drive and reinstall windows. It seems to boot ok. I followed MS troubleshooting procedure, changing things such as IRQ steering etc. What next?
