Hi,

I have recently swapped out a motherboard- however I do not have the drivers for this motherboard. There is one thing that windows cannot find a driver for and that is Bus Controller i think.

Formatted hard drive, loaded win98 on and graphic drivers and modem drivers. Pc recognises modem however when dialling out or even selecting modem detection (tests modem is communciating) the pc reboots itself

Please help-any suggestions?

Try to identify your motherboard and the maker. They may have drivers and patches to make it work properly.

Hi thanks for the info

I have found that the motherboard is n AOPEN AX3S-I have gone onto the website and found drivers to download but there aere so many

If anyone can spare a few mins just to look through the choice- Not sure which one to download!

Thanks again

Go into the AX3S in the choices. There are five pages full of drivers and utilities. Some of them are utilities to help to identify the product that you have. They seem to have drivers for everything that can be on their mobos. Very nicely documented. You can also download the manual, this is another way to make sure that you have the right model. If it's another mobo, then try the manual of another mobo variation.
Unless you see vacuum tubes (yes, tubes!! on a PC motherboard! I hope that they fired their marketing guys.) on the mobo, don't bother with the "-tube" models.

I've seen advertisements for computer motherboards with tube type audio built in (special power supply and case mods - expensive!). It seems that tube type audio is much better for hard core gamers and computer musicians. I'm happy with on-board sound!

thanks guys for all your help!!! first question up and I have had very positive feedback!! :)

I have decided after spending many hours on this pc it just aint worth it!

Any good deals anywhere for new pc's? Not looking for anything special just 40 HDD, 256/512 RAM Modem etc

cheers

If you go back to this mobo, try the newest intel :inf" listed on this page:

Hope the page displays ok, if not, there are page numbers at the bottom and i found the intel "inf" around page 3.

The modem may be damaged. Have you tried a different modem?

Hi,
No this is something I have not checked! very good point however- why didnt i think of that! :) will try and get hold of one and try it- however I am still missing the

PCI MANAGEMENT CONTROLLER

and cannot find drivers for it anywhere- do you think this would cause it to reboot?- just strange that it works perfectly befroe you try to initialise modem
