My Win98se machine is on a network with 20 other XP machines. In network neighborhood I can see the other machines. When I clinck on some of them I get the error "18 is not accessible .... This device does not exist on the network". Some of the machines I can access without any problems. Now if I use another PC on the network then I can see my Win98 machine. I have printer file sharing enabled and my one drive is shared on the 98 machine. I am using subnet mask 255.255.255.0 in TCP/IP settings. The other protocols i have installed are Client for MSNetworks, Microsoft family logon, IPX/SPX, Net BEUI,TCP/IP and of course my network adaptor. I have pinged the other machines and it was sucssesful. Any ideas?
Thank you in advance.

I do have internet conection on my Win98 machine....

Unless you have a real need for them try removing IPX/SPX & Net BEUI from the 98 system, they could be confusing the issue as XP will not recognize them. You might be better to actually remove all networking components from this system and reinstall them without IPX/SPX & Net BEUI. All things are possible except skiing through a revolving door.

thanx Mulga... I will give it a go and see what happens.
