My c: drive crashed and even though I tried FDisk and partitioning and formatting several times, loaded a boot disk, and put in a new BIOS battery, it won't let me load Windows again. I get error SU 0013 over and over. Windows work fine until last week and the computer is just over a year old. I did have a virus a while ago and was never able to get sound after that.

I have a second hard drive called D:. What can I set to make that my boot drive and try to load Windows on that? I do have things saved on that drive that I do not want to lose. My CD is a CD-R but the program is gone since it was on C: or I would copy everything onto CD. Some are photos. Someone told me yesterday that when they did what I want to do, they lost everything on their D:

Thank you, thank you! Windows is up and running. Now may I impose on you for two more things?
First, Trying to set up my ethernet connection again, my computer doesn't recognize my NIC. I called Lynksys and they walked me through to the point where the error is. They said to download the driver for the network adaptor. It looks as if the ethernet plug goes into a network adaptor that is right on the motherboard. How do I find out what make/model it is so that I can download the driver. Should I move this question to another board? Also, when WIndows 98 finds new hardware, is there a way I can find out exactly what it has found? It tells me it has found a PCI audio device and I don't know enough to know about that.

Glad to see your up and running again!

This can get really tricky with the NIC, so a new post may help......either here and/or the "ethernet" forum...
forum586 PCI audio is probably either a sound card or PCI modem (like I have).
Go to Start>Run> MSINFO32
and expand the left pane to view all sorts of PC info..specifically for you under
Hardware/IRQ's
Software/Multimedia(ignore codecs for now) Network, Modem and Problem Devices

Also right click My Computer>choose "properties"
Device Manager.....Expand the branches for info...and choose properties or double click each item...

There's a couple of things to consider. You may need "Client for MS Networks" installed to do Ethernet,,and set as your "Primary Network Logon" from Control Panel>Network...or Right ckick Network Neighborhood>properties from Desktop
(don't know, only take ether from my dentist [bigsmile]

Also you may need to BIOS enable the network card..
