I am using an internal PC Tel HSP 56K Micromodem to connect using TCP/IP to my ISP using Windows 98 OSR2.

Connection is OK, but after being online for about 15 minutes or so, I lose all network connection to an extend even PINGing the ISP's servers results in "Request time outs"!!! The phone line remains active

I am pretty sure the ISP/phone lines are OK cos connection using an External Hayes Accura 56K Modem is fine for much much longer connections.

I have tried reinstalling the Modem driver, which didn't help. What kind of problem is this?? Hardware or software?? And how could I resolve this??

It actually sounds like an ISP problem not modem. are you using the external on the same machine?

Actually when I use the external modem on the Same PC which is experiencing problem with the Internal Modem, there are no problems at all, that is why I am suspecting problems with the INTERNAL PCI Modem.!

Sometimes another slot is all it takes...tried moving it to another?

Might also check to see if Modem Properties is turned all the way up to maximum. If it is, try turning it down a little and see if the connection still drops.
