Hello
I have a random problem with a laptop that has win98 sometimes when I shutdown it works perfectly. Some times I do the same thing and it stays in the shuting down computing screen...
What could it be? any ideas?

One quick fix that may get Windows 98 to shut down properly is to disable a feature called "fast shutdown." To disable fast shutdown: Select Start, Run, type msconfig in the field, and press Enter. Click the Advanced button on the General tab of the System Configuration Utility, and place a check beside Disable Fast Shutdown. Reboot, and then try
shutting down the system.

If you go to the windows update section on the Microsoft site, there is a Windows 98 shutdown Fix. This is quite a common problem which usually happens after you have used a dial-up connection or have mapped drives.

Hi Acosta,

Like everybody has said this is a common problem, and the above are both good suggestions.

If however you still have a problem after apply the patch and disabling fast shutdown, checkout the FAQ in this forum.

It should help.
