Win32 error - help me, please!

Sort of, as you have three instances of it running according to your Hijack log.
Lets divide and conquer:
1. Turn off Automatic Updates from Windows Update. (right click My Computer, Properties, Automatic Updates, turn off). Later we will turn this back on.
2. Download AutoRuns from Sysinternals:
Unpack this to a folder as we will be using it a lot.
3. With Autoruns, disable 1/2 of all startup programs. Reboot. (Ignore any error messages not related to your Svchost issue).
IF, it does not throw a 'Generic Host' error, you know the faulty driver or service is in the disabled statup settings;
Enable 1/2 of the disabled items and reboot. By doing this we should isolate after 5 or so reboots the problematic driver or service.
IF, it does throw an error, you know the 'Generic Host' error is in the enabled items and not the disabled items. Enable all the disabled items, and disable half of the items that you had enabled in the first round.
By dividing and conquering the startup list you will isolate the problem.
(And do not forget to re-enable Windows Update).

If you really want to kill DrWatson have a look at the exe files in the System32 folder. Have another go with the MSKB first.

Are you confusing DrWatson with Error Reporting which is a separate service item in Services?
Right click the My Computer Icon/ Properties/ Advanced/ Error Reporting/ Disable Error Reporting
Sounds a bit like shooting the messenger to me, have you looked at the DrWatson logs? See my later paragraphs.
Anything could be causing Explorer to crash. You could consider recent updates. Also consider any other changes you have made. Corrupted files can cause this too.
To get further information about the error look in your Event viewer.
Look in the System or Application folder. You can get to the Event Viewer via right click My Computer icon and select Manage.
Any errors logged in the Event Viewer can be expanded by double clicking on the error line.
Take any event error I.D. number and search for it on this site.
Some general things to try.
Try running ChkDsk to check your drive for errors. Right click your Drive icon/ Properties/ Tools/ Error Checking.
Run the System File Checker program from the Run Box by typing.....Sfc /Scannow in it and have your XP CD handy.

If they don't work you could try repairing windows itself by running it over itself. You will lose all your windows updates but your files will be untouched.

If you want the highly technical cause of the crash look in the Documents and Settings/ All Users/ Application Data/ Microsoft/ Dr Watson/ Drwtsn32.log
Find the entry that is relevant by date and time to the crash you are investigating. The exact cause of the crash is indicated by "FAULT ->" on the left of page next to line of code causing crash. This, if your as cluey as me, wont tell you much but you can use it to see if it is the same fault all the time, and further up the log you can find what processes and modules are running.

Still no luck...
This is the error signature:
szAppName : szAppVer : 0.0.0.0 szModName : unknown
szModVer : 0.0.0.0 offset : 00000000
When i go to Computer Management I find that the Application Error occuring has to do with a file named faultrep.dll and the System Information gives a file named ntdll.dll (Event 26) and a file named netevent.dll (Event 7035 and 7036). Does this information help at all??

Application Popup, Event Error 26, is just telling you (what we already know) that you have a error message concerning svchost.exe displayed on your screen.

To resolve this problem, follow these steps:
1. Turn off the computer and the printer and the scanner.
2. Disconnect the printer and the scanner from the computer.
Start the computer and test again.
