Well, heres a strange one.
Im full admin on my win2k pro. When right-click on taskbar, I get no properties. If I right click in box where time is, I get options but Toolbars is greyed out, I can then get to properties.
Also, after login, any icon in the time box disappears after 10 mins, but they are still running. The only thing that remains displayed is the time.
Im the only one who uses this pc, Im pretty sure I didnt touch these settings lately, and I dont know where these settings are anyways.
Any ideas are greatly appreciated.

Before the icons disappear do you get the error message that says explorer.exe has permormed and illegal operation and must be shut down?

Why yes I did, forgot to mention that... :p
After I got that, went to add/remove programs and did a repair in Internet Explorer. I havent gotten the message again but icons are still missing. I did this last Friday.

That error is not internet explorer, it is windows explorer. Have you restarted the computer since then? That should fix the problem.

Oh yeah, rebooted several times in past few days, still missing icons, cant get to toolbar(still greyed out).
I am also missing other quicklinks that usually appear next to start button, ie Refresh, IE icon, Outlook icon, etc.
And I've scanned for viruses, on latest updates, etc.
Strange thought..I recently installed tweakUI. I have gone thru it many times now looking for these settings but they are not in tweakUI. Maybe Ill try removing.

Woot, fixed it!
Reviewed Micro$oft issues and found Q273785.
Checked my registry then reviewed my IE settings in TWEAK UI.
Shell enhancement is is unchecked. Checked and rebootted, BINGO, everything was back.

Thanks for the info. I have been looking for this information in books and on the web for weeks now. I finaly found someone else with this same issue. My friends computer is doing the same thing. I am going to try to fix it with this information from these postings. Thanks again.
