Any news on weather or not there will be an SP5 or will there just be a security update pack? Does anyone have any idea what may be included in this, i suppose the inclusion of the Windows firewall is unlikely.

Cheers.

They are, however, going to be issuing a Service Pack 3 for XP.

Well XP's on the support roadmap untill 2011 so i should hope so, imagine downloading all the post SP2 patches between now and then. :)

SP5 ???
IMHO didn't SP3 & SP4 cause enough problems?

lol

It's just a collection of hotfixes by the looks so shouldn't be as disruptive as Sp4.

You say that, but imo I never really had any trouble with either SP4 or SP2 for XP, maybe i'm just lucky? :D

Same here UKG.

When building new PCs for our work here, before we roll them out into the production environment..

Win2K machines ALWAYS get SP4, and XP ALWAYS gets SP2 now.

Not a single problem, and I feel a little safer knowing these idiots have the firewall running on the local machine.. even if the main firewalls block most everything anyways.

That is so far from being decided on, that I think it reckless to make a declarative statement of fact about this.

My own antenna is that it will not happen. But I would not bet on that either.

Win2000 SP4 only did good for my system. Subsequent updates seem however to have given my FTP clients a stomach ache.
