We have a mixed network with a novell 4.1 server , a win2k server and win 95, 98 and new 2000pro workstations in a school. Just sometimes everything seems to slow down to almost unusable and just as we chase round its all ok again. It has been suggested that the win2k machines are causing this? Does anyone know? We have hubs and switches.

win2k slowing mixed network??

Under network properties there is an advanced drop down menu. Under advanced settings there is a tab for provider order you will see a list of networking options. Move the Microsoft one to the top and this might take care of the problem.
