Hi, for some reason my Win2k takes minutes to turn off from a shutdown, I get the saving your settings message come up, and then the message goes and the screen stays blue and after a few minutes shuts down.

I am using SP4 and all the updates, and it's a new profile I'm using.

This is a very common problem and SP4 fixes it. I'd recommend to install it.

Good Luck,

Can you not read :) I am using it!

I apologize humbly for reading only the main body of your message and skipping the part which looked unimportant. Therefore the answer is yes, it looks like I cannot read.

Still, this problem is fixed in SP4. I had the same problem in my home and work machines and after SP4 everything was back to normal.

I had this problem and I think it was Mozilla's resident portion (makes Mozilla start faster). I uninstall that part and W2K shuts down normally. Look in your systray and and see what you have running.

Also, look at this url for info on what services you can shut down...

It's possible that your page file is being cleared and/or recreated. There is a registry fix for this.

HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\SessionManager\Memory Management
look for the following value name

Value Name: ClearPageFileAtShutdown
Data Type: REG_DWORD (DWORD Value)
Value Data: (0 = disabled, 1 = enabled)

If there is a 1 as the value data change it to a 0
