We have a strainge situation on our LAN. We have 3 NT4 servers online. One for data, one for server, and another one for our FTP server. Receintly we made another pc for SQL server functionallity and used MS Small Business Server 2000. Most all the user PC's are NT4 workstation (approx50) with some Win2000 workstations (approx 5). We run TCP/IP and NetBEUI. All have static IP's on a workgroup.

Here's the problem:
When the new SmallBusinessServer2000 SQL Server PC is brought online, after a few days, ALL PC's (Except the new one) loose the ability to browse the LAN. Shut it off and everything's back to normal. Any ideas on what's causing it and how to remidy?

Thanks in advance,
Harrison

sounds like the 2000 server has taken over browsing on the network. In the services menu, stop the computer browser service, disable it and reboot the server.

You may want to reboot the nt servers while the 2000 box is down.

karmic,

Thanks for the quick response. Just removed that service this morning. Hopefully it'll fix the prob. Problem is though, I won't know for about a week.

Thanks again,
Harrison
