I'm doing a trial disaster/recovery for our exchange server.

Basically i'm at the point where my server has ad/dc and exchange 2k installed. Now i'm at the point of restoring from backups, but when I restore the sytem state and then reboot, the server hangs at the windows 2000 server logo and nothing happens, I have tried doing this whole installation before from scratch and the same happens when i restore the system state.

any ideas?

thx.

Try, before restoring sys state, try disabling all the hardware you think you can.

have as little stuff installed and active as possible.

then do the sys state restore.

i think this will increase you chances.

How long have you let it sit at the screen? How big was your DIT file? And is this the same hardware that you are restoring to?

I've let the screen seat there for a day and nothing. Its the same hardware. The the restore file is 300mb.
