Hi all, I have two computers both with win2k pro installed. Right now they can see each other and transfering files fine. I know win2k has the ICS function built in, but I couldn't make it to work. I have one computer (let's call it server) connected to internet via modem as usual, and I enabled ICS check box. The server computer has the ip address of 192.168.0.1 and the client computer has the ip address of 192.168.0.2. Also, on the client computer, I set the connection thru LAN by using the internet wizard. I had the "automatically discover proxey server" checkbox checked, and I even manually type in my server ip address as the proxey server with port 80 enabled. IT'S NOT WORKING......... HELP!!!! I'm having the same problem. I found some info on the following site.. (and w2hicshi.htm). It worked once and then it never connected again. If you hear of any solution, please let me know.
Thanks,

I'm not sure that the way you are trying to do it is going to work, as you are not running a proxy server in the scenario outlined.

The way I do it here, and my system is almost exactly the same as your, is on the clients, go Start, Settings, Network and DialUp Connections, right click Local Area Connection and select properties. Highlight the entry called 'Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)' and click Properties, click the Advanced button near the bottom right, locate the Default Gateways panel and click its Add button, in the Gateway box enter your servers IP address, 192.168.0.1, leave the Metric field at 1, click OK all the way out.

Thats how I did it here, I found it by trial and error, and it has been working on my home network for two servers and 7 clients, since August last year. It has not faulted in all that time.

I found that just setting up another DUN and deleting the first one did the trick, have no idea why but it has worked for a couple other people also.

I have a win2000pro machine connected through a dial-up,
meaning dynamic IP, the client machine on my LAN is win98SE,
I somehow managed to make ICS work, but alas it was dropped.
now I can't seem to fix it no matter what, and I have followed pages upon pages of instructions, please HELP
