Does anyone know of anywhere to find Win2K hotfixes that weren't included in SP2 but are suspected to be included in SP3? I'm looking specifically for hotfixes relating to knowledge base articles:
- (Q281672) Possible Data Loss Due To Write Caching Being Enabled
- (Q290757) Write Cache Settings Don't Persist After Restart

I know that I could go through MS Support to get these, but I don't want to go through the red-tape if I don't have to.

I'd appreciate any info you guys can throw my way...

Hello,

The hot fix for your issue has been packaged and placed on an FTP site for you to download.

WARNING: This fix is not publicly available through the Microsoft website as it has not gone through full Microsoft regression testing. If you would like confirmation that this fix is designed to address your specific problem, or if you would like to confirm whether there are any special compatibility or installation issues associated with this fix, you are encouraged to speak to a Support Professional in Product Support Services.

The package is password protected so be sure to enter the appropriate password for each package. To ensure the right password is provided cut and paste the password from this mail.

NOTE: Passwords expire every seven days so download the package within one week to insure you can extract the files. If you receive two passwords it means you are receiving the fix during a password change cycle. Use the second password if you download after the indicated password change date.

That's absolutely awesome Doreen! Thank you very, very much for the information. I'm downloading as we speak...

BTW, Do you have any ideas about the Q290757 hotfix? I know that with the Q281672 hotfix, it shouldn't matter if I have the other one...but I'm curious none the less.

Thanks again Doreen. This is very cool.

I have a need for this too on a system we just built, where the registry entries are getting corrupted at shutdown. the hard drive can't write fast enough before the CPU powers down the system.
Unfortunately it appears that the passwords you posted are out of date. Do you have the latest to unzip the file.
Thanks much
