Hi All,

I have recently developed a problem with my Win2k Server.
I noticed that logon takes ages from my Win2k Workstations - 4-5mins after entering password.

Checked my server - will not go into the Activity Directory - complaining that the domain doesn't exist or cannot be contacted -

When i try to connect to the domain or server within the console it says it cannot connect to a pre2000 windows?

Any ideas would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

DNS!!!!

We get this when the clients dont have the correct DNS servers entered and they have to use WINS. Takes ages.

techylike is right on the money, make sure your dns server has a static ip address and that all your client machines are pointing to the correct address. always check dns when you have slow response times.

Only problem i think is that it was all working fine, but now on my server i cannot get into the active directory - refuses to show users and computers etc...

Any ideas

Check your event logs and everything else.

Make sure the DNS appears to be configured correctly on the DC, if the AD is not available you can bet your @rse its DNS related!

I hope you have more than one DC!

If you see something in the event logs, run it by and see which Qdocs help.

good luck!
