Win2003Server page can not be displayed

Hi,
I have a windows 2003 server that we just put together and it has IIS server installed. Now we installed the application .
when I go to it displays "hello" in the page and that means the server IIS is working. but when I try the it says that page can not be displayed.
I have tried all the twicks and tricks and still no luck. any help is highly appreciated.

What is the default page that you use for browsing ?? try using //servername/virtual directory/defaultpage
