Hi there.

I have a Laptop with windows XP on it and it has an administrator user who also has domain admin rights.
If I try to acces the domain it mostly fails.. if I do this in my network places. but if I acces a pc with \\pcname it works. How can I solve this problem? Oh and Yesterday I changed some options on the laptop and sudenly I could acces the domain. but after a reboot I can't. any idee?

also there is another domain here. I would like to have acces to that to becouse another pc with the same user login can acces both. (also a pc where I work with. but it is win 2000). Ofcource I could ask the administrator of this network but heum.. he is gone for a while and I should learn this. But at this moment I'm right out of school and we just learned other stuff about networking..
I even have no e-mail yet there. :(

Hi - not sure if this will solve proble but I had simular issue, Ensure that DNS is working OK. Also, I know this may sound strange but have a look at WINS as well (if you have it installed) I know XP and 2000 dont use WINS but if you have a NT server you may need it

DNS - DNS. I just completed months of troubleshooting. I set the LAN DHCP to point to an outside DNS.

Because Win2K Servers have NetBios Helper it worked but then we added an XP Laptop and no connecto.

The resoution was to revert to Domain Controller DNS for DHCP. WinXP pro >requires< DNS resolution for authentication.
