I have 3 pc's in my small network. 2 have win 2k pro installed from scratch and communicate fine together.

The 3rd PC I upgraded to win 2k pro from 98.

The 3rd PC can be seen on the network by the other 2 but cannot access any shares on either of the 1st 2 PC's.
The same is true going the other way. The 3rd PC can not access any shares on the 1st 2 pc's.

I have added both the machine name and user names to security on all machines in group administrators as well.

What am I missing?

Thanks.

2 things to check - assuming you have network connectivity, and can ping around..

1) Is the workgroup/domain name the same on the 98 PC as on the windows 2000 boxes?

2) File and Printer Sharing must be enabled on the Windows 98 box in network neighborhood.

Let us know if these didnt work for you.

Yes they are both in the workgroup "WORKGROUP".
Yes file & printer sharing are turned on in win 98.

Enable the Guest accounts on the 2K machines - and if using NTFS - make sure "System" is also a user with full control on the Win2K machines.
