Hello,
I was wondering if some of you are having issues trying to right click from desktop.
When I right click from desktop my desktop resets. I cannot creat a folder on the desktop nor do I have access to the right click menu!

This is happening on 2 of my 5 HP computers.
All updates are up to date.

Your help would be appreciated!

Are you 100% sure you are NOT in Tablet mode?

if that's not the case try:

Run DISM Tool as an ADMIN
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Scanhealth
then
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
Reboot.

next would be to Regedit...but I'll leave that up to you!

Thanks Professor!

I can confirme that I am not in Tablet Mode.

I’ll try the DISM tool and let you know what happens!

Cheers

It sounds to me like maybe you have something corrupt for your context menu; some piece of software that has added a context menu link that is not working right.

When you right-click, it's bringing up the context menu, and something on there isn't playing nice.

Just a thought.

Hello Greg,

You are exactly right.
When I right click from the desktop (desktop only) the desktop resets itself without giving me the context menu.
I even tried a windows repair with no luck!

Google tells me a lot of people have this issue. What they offer doesn’t help!
There has to be a solution!!

I would start in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\Shellex\ContextMenuHandlers

Of course, back up your registry first.

Good article here with a couple of utilities:
