When I open too many programs (ie 10+), this may include simple reminders from outlook, the task bar puts arrows so I can select which set of open programs that I want to go to. Instead, it would be nice if I all the programs would stay on the task bar without the arrows. I recognize my icons could become real small. Is this possible with XP? This similar how it works in 9X or 2000.

Right click on your Task Bar - select properties - and untick 'Group Similar taskbar buttons'

I am not looking to group similar buttons. Nor do I want the arrows on the toolbar.

The goal is that every application opens a taskbar button. Therefore, if I have opened 3 instances of IE. I would see all three buttons on the current taskbar. And I do not want to see arrows on the task bar.

What MrPig said above should do this.. instead of saying "internet explorer 15 items" it will have each window seperate.
you did *Un*check "Group Similar Taskbar Buttons" right?

Yes, I did "clear" the "group similar taskbar buttons". This is only half of the problem.

Please re-read my previous messages. My primary issue is that if I open more than 12 programs it creates a set of arrows. Each instance of IE has its own program - like I want. But I want the arrows to go away like win9x/2000. Goal: show all icons on the taskbar (no arrows).

This is another choice you may try:

Right click the taskbar, uncheck "Lock the tackbar", then drag the taskbar to be 2 rows high.(Make sure you have uncheck the "Group similar taskbar buttons

Thanks Trqchina,

This is a solution - not exactly what I was looking for - but it is a rough work-around. It would be nice to keep only one row of the tasks and not use more screen real estate.
