I have 6 users mapped to a file shared to my c: drive. I am using a wireless network connection and when I goto map a 7th user it says there are to may mapped to this drive. Is there a limitation of how may users can be connected??
For Windows 2000 Professional and Windows XP Professional, the limit is 10. For XP Home Edition the limit is 5 simultaneous connections.
Not that every connection to a share uses up one of the available connections, so a single user connected to three different shares on the PC uses three connections.
I don't know why you're getting stuck at six connections though! X-)
does ics stand for inbound connections. Also I think that I am going to go ahead and get a server. I have found places that are selling server 2003 for 1495 and it says there is 25 cal. Does this mean there is 25 user licenses with this?? And can you connect xp home edition to the server??
ICS="Internet Connection Sharing"
Inbound connections? Do you mean to a WebServer type of application or FTP? Those do not count either. If you mean Terminal Services, that is licensed seperately.
If you setup the server as a Domain, XP Home cannot join a Domain but it can use the resources of the Domain. You could explore:
