I have two computers i want to connect to the internet through a cable line. both are connected to a hub. i can get one computer connected but the other doesn't seem to connect. i know ICS must be enabled but i can't seem to find it. it should be under the properties of the connection but it isn't there. ive gone through steps but it still seems not to work..

im using Win XP on both computers.

thanks

Internet Connection Sharing is located in the properties of your Local Area Connection. Right click on My Network Places, select properties, right click on your Local Area Connection, select properties, and tab over to advance.

only thing listed is Internet Connection Firewall.
there is no Internet Connection Sharing :(

More than likely you won't be able to share the connection by just using a hub and the ICS. I had to use 2 NIC's in my computer for a while. 1 NIC had the cable modem connected to it, the other was connected to my LAN. This was the cheap way to do it, but it was far more trouble and provided far less performance than the alternative. I believe that for ICS to work you will have to add a protocol.

The way that I currently have my machines set up is with a LinkSys Router. This little box is the most wonderful thing that has happened to my internet experiences for a number of reasons.
1) Simple to set up. It took like 10 minutes and everything was done and working.
2) You can use it to connect a number of machines (250 or something like that)
3) It is relatively cheap. I think I saw it this weekend for $70.

The model of the router that I use is BEFSR41. This works for cable modem and DSL.

Hope this helps.
