I recently installed SBS 2003 and when Itried to open "Admin Tools" I found out I couldn't. After much research and not alot of results the computer finally told me what was wrong. Here is what it has to say:

The controller "name" ia a domain controller. This "snap-in" cannot be used on a domain controller. Domain controllers are managed with Active Directory users and computers "snap-in".

Basically the only thing I'm trying to do but can't is access Admin Tools. Is there a way to fix this problem without re-installing the OS or maybe I can access this system remotely and do what I have to do like any admin type chores?

Any help would be forever thanked!

Ed

SBS should be configured with the wizards, so simply open the Server management snap-in in your Start menu.

Hope This Helps, PH.

Thanks but I have done that and it does the same thing. It brings me to Server Management and from there I can open any task i need but I would like to have that in my start menu instead. Are you saying that this is the only way to access my Admin Tools?

Thanks

Ed

Ok. Do you know if I can fix this without re-installing the OS again? I would rather have the option to just go through the start menu. That's how I had it before the hard drive took a dive. Thanks for all your time and suggestions.

Eddy

Are you saying you've lost the shortcut to LaunchConsole.exe ?

Hope This Helps, PH.
