Have you tried removing the drivers from the system in safe mode then reloading them? While you're in device manager look for double drivers listed and remove them too. Then reboot the system, if it doesn't autodetect and install the modem drivers then the modem is dead, go out and get a new card, maybe cost you $20.00.
